Fully hand made carving and then glass paper sending by the carver man “Giorgio De Tana”. Clock sculpture basement has been done in a sole piece once not applied over. Some beeach wood for the structure and decoration made of Italian walnut wood too. The top glass is 5mm thick and bevelled all around manually by artisan Mr. Giovanni Casella. The bottom glass is blown. Back side round opening as per the clock masterpiece in the 50´s and the 2 side cuts in the curved plywood made as musical key “sol” shape that originally were done for expanding the sound out the case, even if the small chimes were inside.

Movement:

Original German mechanical movement from the company Kieninger, they do clock movements in the Black Forest since 1912 made of solid high thick brass. It plays the Westminster chime quarterly and the strokes hourly. Accessories are made in Germany by the Jaeckle company since 1888. Clock movement features: self oiling, self centring, self regulating and you may rotate minute hand counterclockwise trouble free. Moreover clock may not chime night time from 10pm untill 7.15am automatically. Clock winding weekly (about 10 days totally) by pulling down the free part of each chain and so making the weight moving up. It goes down 12cm per day making the clock running and chiming.

Finish:

The Venetian lacquer is old style made. Basic white color to close up all the wood poors and then the ivory finish. Over that manually painter man Mr. Gianfranco Pozzani painted the dark yellow decoration over the ivory and the flowers in the base, moreover he applied gently the genuine gold leaf too. Finally mat transparent spray to protect it all once.

Specials:

That´s one of the first ever made clocks by the founder Antonio Altobel. He started by installing a movement inside a Venetian piece of furniture. At that time no top crest, no bottom door, small top door because no the moonphase…. But quickly it was such popular that he made so accurate that he started exporting it worldwide. Design is thin and gently but at the same time very solid becuase of the base legs are all that much tall and not applied under the base only. Moreover the gently carving in the base has not been applied but it´s made by carving out all the missing part of wood 2cm thick all in front of the base. Side curved plywood parts have been curved in a couple by hand instead of insde the press machine. Woodworking processing still as done in 1945.
