Kieninger 1266-96-04 Mantel Clock

(Kieninger 1266-96-04)

1266-96-04

NEW MODEL - Modern style Mantle Clock in a high gloss Black Cube cabinet. Westminster, Whittington & St. Michael chimes on the quarters and hour striking.

100th anniversary model with fascinating tourbillon escapement:

Designer clock with three dimensional solid wooden cabinet features high gloss Black piano finish.

The 5 bevelled crystal glass panels allow a full view of the refined (10 ball bearings) caliber J0256 movement and consist of an extravagant chrome plated brass frame construction.

The tourbillon (French for whirlwind) is a special device to compensate for an error of accuracy

A silver plated brass dial with etched decor and an exclusive tourbillon escapement with screw balance serving as second indication and fine Breguet hands, complete this unique clock design.

Limited anniversary edition of only 100 pieces.

The tourbillon:

In the year 1801 A. L Breguet patented the tourbillon which helped improving the accuracy of watches, as it compensates inaccuracies of the centre of gravity in the swinging system of the balance wheel.

Today the tourbillon in its complexity and demands concerning technical design and production precision is also used for presenting and hig-lighting the art of clock making. Above all it looks very attractive and it is a real eye-catcher.

The tourbillon consists of the entire escapement assembly group including the swinging system of the balance wheel. These are located in a rotating frame, which is driven by the time train. So most of the important parts needed for the movement’s precision are rotating once a minute which compensates run time inaccuracies.

The Kieninger tourbillon with its pointed design is rotating once a minute which allows it to serve as second indication as well.

Fitted with the J 0256C movement.

Height: 10 inches (25.5 cm), Width: 9¾ inches (25 cm), Depth: 7 inches (18 cm)

Kieninger 1713-57-01 Mantel Clock

(Kieninger 1713-57-01)

1713-57-01

Superb Mantle clock in Ebony with the movement and accessories in chrome - Westminster, Whittington and St. Michael chimes on nine chrome bells..

Contemporary mantel clock in Ebony featuring a tourbillon escapement mounted on the dial face. In horology the tourbillon was developed around 1795 and patented by the French-Swiss watchmaker Abraham Louise Breguet on June 26, 1801; the tourbillon aims to counter the effects of gravity by mounting the escapememt and the balance wheel in a rotating cage as this negates the effect of gravity when the timepiece (thus the escapement) is stuck in a one position. Originally an attempt to improve accuracy, tourbillons are still included in some expensive modern watches to demonstrate the watchmakers virtuosity. The mechanism is usually exposed on the watch´s face to show it off. In this superb clock it provides an interesting feature on the dial face and also acts as seconds indicator hand.

Calibre RTU01 movement.

Selectable chimes - Westminster, Whittington, and St Michael - on 9 diamond cut bells.

Automatic night time shut off.

Elegant case with free swinging front and rear doors.

Chrome plated movement and accessories.

Open silver plated dial with Roman numerals and view of movement.

Fitted with the RTU 01 movement.

Height: 15¼ inches (39 cm), Width: 11 inches (28 cm), Depth: 11 inches (28 cm)
