New Model - The tourbillon:
In the year 1801 A. L Breguet patented the tourbillon which helped improving the accuracy of watches, as it compensates inaccuracies of the centre of gravity in the swinging system of the balance wheel.
Today the tourbillon in its complexity and demands concerning technical design and production precision is also used for presenting and hig-lighting the art of clock making. Above all it looks very attractive and it is a real eye-catcher.
The tourbillon consists of the entire escapement assembly group including the swinging system of the balance wheel. These are located in a rotating frame, which is driven by the time train. So most of the important parts needed for the movement’s precision are rotating
once a minute which compensates run time inaccuracies.
The Kieninger tourbillon with its pointed design is rotating once a minute which allows it to serve as second indication as well.

Superb Mantle clock in ebony black with the movement and accessories in chrome - Westminster, Whittington and St. Michael chimes on nine chrome bells.
Contemporary mantel clock in Ebony featuring a tourbillon escapement mounted on the dial face.
In horology the tourbillon was developed around 1795 and patented by the French-Swiss watchmaker Abraham Louise Breguet on June 26, 1801; the tourbillon aims to counter the effects of gravity by mounting the escapememt and the balance wheel in a rotating cage as this negates the effect of gravity when the timepiece (thus the escapement) is stuck in a one position. Originally an attempt to improve accuracy, tourbillons are still included in some expensive modern watches to demonstrate the watchmakers virtuosity.
The mechanism is usually exposed on the watch´s face to show it off. In this superb clock it provides an interesting feature on the dial face and also acts as seconds indicator hand.
